The lesson on April 2, 2017 was part 11 of “The U, V and W of Right Division”. We have learned how they mysteries of scripture should be used to properly answer the Preterist position that all prophecy was fulfilled in AD 70. This weeks lesson continues to look at the Mystery of God and how that is fulfilled in Christ. We discuss how God knows the future and that God could control every aspect of the future by programming man but he didn’t in that Man was made as a free agent. We review how God controls the times and the seasons. and he does this while maintaining man’s right to choose! God allows man to rebel against his will and through His secret purposes brings to pass other aspects of His will. We learn how prophecy is fulfilled or delayed and when it is delayed, a “mystery” is invoked. At the end of the lesson, Wayne begins to look at the role of Elijah and how he is an important piece if Israel would have repented and accepted Jesus as Messiah. The scripture reading was from Malachi 4:1-6 KJV

“1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts. 4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
